Your first floors teach one repeatable loop: leave the elevator, identify landmarks and Twisteds, complete safe machines, collect useful items and Research along the route, then return when Panic Mode begins. The goal is not maximum depth. It is learning why a machine, chase, or elevator return succeeded.
First thirty seconds
Turn back once so the elevator and room are recognizable. Pick a left/right convention, locate the nearest junction, and listen before entering a blind hall. Call the first Twisted and machine with a landmark.
Do not sprint through the initial search. Preserve stamina and let faster or lower-Stealth players manage pressure. Collect Tapes or target Research capsules when they sit on a safe route; do not cross an unknown patrol for one pickup.
Choose the first machine
Prefer two exits, nearby cover, and an approach you can hear. A dead-end machine is a poor beginner station even when it is closest. Start only after checking the adjacent room.
Watch the Skill Check area and stop when a Twisted enters the route. A partial machine remains later; a lost Heart changes the entire run. If a check fails, call it and leave until the investigation ends.
Learn a clean escape
Walk while safe, then sprint toward solid cover after detection. Turn one clear corner, continue out of direct vision, and wait. Do not circle randomly or return immediately through the same opening.
If another player distracts, stay away from their loop. Crossing it can steal attention or place the Twisted between you and the machine. Tell the lobby if the chase moves unexpectedly.
Items and Research
Carry one item for the current job and one for failure when inventory allows. Healing is used after safety, extraction items on meaningful machines, and escape items before the route collapses. Call rare items instead of taking everything.
Research capsules belong to the Twisted shown on the capsule and are described as client-side by current guides. Share their location. A controlled first encounter adds Research; do not maintain a dangerous chase just to prove you saw the enemy.
Panic Mode return
Before the last machine completes, someone should call it. Check the elevator direction and save stamina. If you are far away, begin moving while the final extractor finishes.
During Panic Mode, take the known safe route rather than a new shortcut. Use speed or stamina items before the exposed section. Do not stop for a low-value pickup when the elevator is the objective.
Review in the elevator
Ask what caused the closest mistake: late machine exit, missed sound, empty stamina, unknown map, or team collision. Change one thing on the next floor. Spend Tapes for injury or a clear weakness, not because the shop demands a purchase.
As floors deepen, preserve Health and information. A beginner run that reaches a modest depth with clear decisions is more useful than one carried deep without understanding the route.
Beginner floor mistakes
- Sprinting during exploration.
- Taking the first dead-end machine.
- Ignoring a failed Skill Check.
- Crossing the distractor’s loop.
- Healing while still chased.
- Learning the elevator direction only after Panic Mode starts.
Beginner Floors FAQ
Should I work on every machine I see?
No. Choose safe stations and respect role assignments. An unsafe machine can wait.
How do I know Panic Mode is coming?
Track remaining machine progress and listen for team calls. Announce the last completion so distant players rotate.
Should beginners collect Research?
Yes, when capsules and encounters fit the safe route. Do not trade the run for a dangerous percentage.
What is a successful first run?
One where you understand the elevator cycle, complete machines, break at least one chase safely, and can explain the reason for the final result.
