Escape items solve different moments. Speed Candy helps cross a gap, stamina effects extend or restore sprint, Smoke Bomb is documented as forcing ordinary Twisteds to lose interest briefly, and Eject Button provides an emergency burst with additional protection in current community guides. Pick the smallest effect that returns you to cover.
Speed before the gap
Use Speed Candy before crossing an exposed hall, returning during Panic Mode, or rebuilding distance after a corner. Activating after the Twisted reaches hit range is often too late. The item improves movement; it does not break direct vision by itself.
Aim for solid cover and stop sprinting once attention ends. Converting every speed boost into a longer open chase wastes the advantage.
Stamina before empty
Pop, Bottle o’ Pop, Protein Bar, and stamina candies cover different immediate or regeneration needs in current indexes. Use a refill before the bar reaches zero if the next part of the route requires sprint. A regeneration effect is weaker under a debuff that blocks recovery, so identify the Twisted first.
Walk on safe routes. An item should rescue unavoidable pressure, not subsidize constant sprinting between empty rooms.
Smoke Bomb
Community references describe Smoke Bomb as dropping ordinary Twisted interest for a short window and not working on Lethal enemies. Use it to reach cover or change direction, not to remain beside the same machine. Once the brief protection ends, the patrol can still occupy the area.
Do not test it against Twisted Dandy as if the item grants immunity. Check the live restriction and route away from lethal threats.
Eject Button and rare emergencies
Eject Button is documented as a short burst of movement/stealth that can remove Slow. It belongs in the moment a debuff or close approach would otherwise cause a hit. Know its inventory slot before the chase.
Rare does not mean “never use.” If the effect preserves a deep run, saves a Main Toon on one Heart, or gets the team through Panic Mode, it has served its purpose.
Match item to Toon
Slow extractors benefit from emergency distance after leaving machines. Distractors may prefer stamina or a route-reset tool. A support carrying healing may have only one escape slot and should choose the most common failure.
Pebble’s base movement means a stamina or special counter may matter more than another small speed burst. Rodger and Vee often need earlier activation because their community-documented movement is weaker.
Common mistakes
- Activating speed with no cover destination.
- Waiting until stamina reaches zero.
- Using Smoke Bomb on a Lethal without verifying the exception.
- Cycling the wrong inventory slot under pressure.
- saving a rare escape through an elimination.
- Assuming an item replaces a line-of-sight break.
Escape item FAQ
What is the best emergency item?
Smoke Bomb and Eject Button are powerful community-documented options for different emergencies. Check the enemy and the live effect.
Should I use speed or stamina?
Speed helps create immediate distance; stamina sustains a longer route. Choose based on why the chase fails.
Can an item save me from Twisted Pebble?
It can widen the margin, but prevention and nearby cover remain essential. Do not plan an open-hall race.
When should I use an item during Panic Mode?
Before the dangerous elevator approach, while there is still time for the boost to change the route.
Decide before the chase begins
Assign each carried escape item a trigger while the floor is calm. For example: use it after the first blocked corner, when stamina falls below a chosen margin, or when Panic Mode starts with the enemy between you and the elevator. A predefined trigger prevents the common mistake of saving the item through the only moment when it could help. It also keeps two teammates from spending scarce tools on the same incident. If the route remains safe, keep the item for the next floor; if the trigger occurs, act immediately and then communicate that the slot is empty.
