Team Roles Guide

Assign Dandy's World extractors, distractors, support, healers and flexible players by Toon strengths, floor geometry and current team needs.

Extractor, distractor, support, healer, and survivalist are practical player roles, not rigid developer classes for every Toon. A role explains the job a player promises on the next floor. The assignment should change with Toon stats, player skill, Health, Trinkets, layout, and Twisted combination.

Evidence: official material confirms cooperative Toons with distinct stats and abilities. Role terminology and named Toon fits are Community corroborated by current guides checked 2026-08-08. Avoid permanent tier claims.

Extractor

Extractors choose safe machines and convert time into progress. Vee, Shelly, and Rodger have community-documented extraction strengths, while Tisha can cover secondary work through Skill Checks. The job includes leaving early and calling failures, not only producing speed.

Use extraction Trinkets when routes are safe and a movement/defensive slot when escape is the bottleneck.

Distractor

The distractor holds one or more Twisteds on a predictable loop away from machines. Pebble is a clear community example; Tisha can flex into the role with the right player and build. The player needs movement, stamina, geometry, calls, and a handoff plan.

Nobody should be forced to distract because their Toon is fast. An inexperienced loop can endanger more machines than ordinary patrols.

Support

Support changes teammates’ movement, extraction, stamina, information, cooldown, or safety. Tisha’s movement pulse and Shelly’s extraction support are direct examples. An ability is useful only when the intended teammate is in range and can act on it.

Support should avoid standing inside the distraction path and communicate cooldowns or targets.

Healer

Healers manage Health through abilities, Tapes, or item knowledge. They cannot undo a chase that is still active. Injured players must reach safety and communicate; healers must preserve their own position and currency.

The team should also call Bandages and Health Kits. Do not make one Toon the only recovery plan.

Flexible and solo roles

A flexible Toon fills abandoned machines, gathers Research, carries items, or assists a chase without committing to one extreme build. Tisha is a strong example. In solo play, every Toon becomes more flexible because no teammate covers the missing job.

Solo builds should combine progress with survival and avoid ally-only effects. The goal is a complete loop, not imitation of a coordinated squad.

Assign roles in the elevator

Use short calls: “extract,” “distract left,” “Researching Astro,” “heals available.” Check injuries and change roles when needed. If two players want the same job, split floor areas or choose the more experienced route without arguing through the opening.

During Panic Mode, roles collapse into one objective: get survivors to the elevator. The distractor clears the approach, support helps movement, and extractors stop pickups.

Role mistakes

  • Treating a tier list as authority over player execution.
  • Calling distraction without a loop.
  • Extracting in a dead end because the stat is high.
  • Using support out of range.
  • Expecting a healer to cross an active chase.
  • Keeping the same role after injury or a bad Twisted combination.

Roles FAQ

What role should a beginner play?

Start flexible: safe machines, items, Research calls, and clean escapes. Learn dedicated distraction only after routing is comfortable.

Who is a good extractor?

Vee, Shelly, and Rodger have strong current community profiles, but safety and player consistency remain essential.

Who is a good distractor?

Pebble is a prominent community choice. Fast Toons still need stamina, cover, and team coordination.

Can roles change mid-run?

Yes. Injuries, eliminations, items, and enemy combinations should change assignments.

Use role handoffs, not fixed labels

At the start of a floor, say who will lead danger away, who will prioritize machines, and who will watch items or Research. Reassign immediately when health, stamina, an enemy effect, or map geometry makes the original plan unsafe. A strong distractor on an open loop may become support in narrow rooms; an extractor carrying an escape tool may take the riskier final machine. State the handoff clearly so two players do not pull the same enemy across the team. Roles are a coordination shortcut, not a promise that one Toon must perform the same task for the entire run.
