Rodger Guide

Use Rodger to accelerate Twisted Research, collect capsules without abandoning machines, manage his low mobility, and plan a practical unlock and Trinket setup.

Rodger is the account-progression specialist. His Detective passive is currently documented as doubling Research gained from capsules and first encounters, while his stat profile favors extraction over movement. That makes him valuable when Research blocks a Trinket or Toon license, but it also means a player must choose safe routes instead of assuming a fast machine clear cancels a bad chase.

Evidence: current community references list Rodger as a 1,000-Ichor license with a 50% Research prerequisite, a four-star Extraction profile, two-star Movement Speed, and doubled Research gains. These are Community corroborated across current research and character guides checked 2026-08-08; confirm the live store and passive text.

Plan one Research target

Open the Twisteds menu before entering a run and name the target. Research is tied to individual Twisteds, so “collect everything” can hide whether the license you want is moving. When the target appears, collect its capsules and register the first encounter without turning the attempt into a reckless chase.

Community guides report two client-side capsules per Twisted on a floor and increased Research for Rodger. Because capsule pickups are client-side, another player collecting one should not remove your own copy. Search the layout methodically, but do not remain in a dangerous area after the team has moved on.

Balance Research and machines

Rodger is not only a capsule collector. His extraction profile means he should complete safe machines while scanning nearby rooms. Take machines with cover, listen for patrols, and stop early if a dangerous Twisted enters the route. A finished machine advances the floor; one extra capsule does not help if the team collapses.

Tell teammates which Twisted you need. A distractor can hold it away from the machine area while you collect the target capsules, then arrange a controlled sighting. In a public lobby, use short messages and never demand that everyone delays the elevator for an uncertain search.

Survive Rodger’s movement weakness

Choose routes before starting extraction. Identify the nearest corner, obstruction, and second exit. Keep stamina for the moment a Twisted reaches the machine instead of sprinting between safe rooms. Low movement becomes manageable when the player leaves early; it becomes punishing when they wait for one more skill check.

Movement or stamina Trinkets can cover the escape problem. Extraction Trinkets are strong only if the floor already gives Rodger safe working time. The right pair depends on whether your runs end from slow progress or failed exits.

Avoid becoming the default distractor simply because the team has no plan. Rodger’s Research bonus needs encounters, not a long chase. Register the target safely, break line of sight, and return to the job he performs well.

Unlock Rodger, then use him as a bridge

Current guides list 1,000 Ichor and 50% Research on any Twisted as Rodger’s license requirements. Verify how the current store phrases the Research gate. If your account is below it, collect capsules and controlled encounters with the starter Toon you handle most safely.

Once Rodger is unlocked, use him to accelerate the harder 100% Research projects required by Main Toons. Pick one target such as Twisted Pebble, Twisted Shelly, or Twisted Vee, and pair the Research route with the matching prerequisite Mastery. This turns Rodger into a bridge, not an endpoint that delays every other goal.

Research-oriented Trinket choices

The Research Map is currently documented as highlighting capsules periodically, which can reduce search time on unfamiliar layouts. Pair information with survival when your target Twisted is dangerous. On familiar floors, an extraction or movement option may contribute more than repeated highlighting.

Do not equate maximum Research speed with maximum account progress. A failed deep run can cost more time than a careful floor that collects both target capsules and completes the elevator. Use the Research build guide to choose between search, escape, and machine support.

Rodger mistakes

  • Wandering for capsules without naming the target Twisted.
  • Taking a dead-end machine because Rodger extracts quickly.
  • Sprinting between rooms and entering a chase with no stamina.
  • Confusing a first encounter with a requirement to maintain the chase.
  • Assuming another player’s capsule pickup removed your own client-side pickup.
  • Working on several 100% Research bars without advancing a specific license.

Rodger FAQ

Why is Rodger used for Research?

His current passive is documented as doubling Research gains from capsules and encounters. Check the live ability text after balance updates.

Is Rodger a good extractor?

Yes, current stat references favor extraction, but low movement means machine selection and early exits are essential.

What should I unlock after Rodger?

Choose the Toon license or Research Trinket that solves your next account need. Main Toon projects become much more practical once Rodger accelerates the correct target.

Does Research require a long chase?

No. The community-described encounter gain registers the first encounter on that floor. Break line of sight safely rather than extending risk.
